NOTICE OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that on May 2, 2026 that the City of Jacksonville will hold a General Election to elect District One Council position.

Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday at 526 E. Commerce, Jacksonville Public Library, between the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM weekdays, beginning April 20, 2026 and ending April 28, 2026. Election day will be held May 2, 2026 from 7am to 7pm at 526 E. Commerce, Jacksonville Public Library.

Applications for mail in ballots shall be mailed to Cherokee County Elections Office at 138 W. 5th Street, Rusk, TX 75785. The deadline to receive the application is April 20, 2026.

The City of Jacksonville, Texas will be the authority conducting the election and their website is www.jacksonvilletx.org.

The City Secretary will serve as early voting clerk with their mailing address 315 S. Ragsdale, Jacksonville, TX 75766.

Por la presente se notifica que el 2 de mayo de 2026 la ciudad de Jacksonville tendra una elecci6n general para elegir el puesto del Consejo del Distrito Cuatro.

La votaci6n anticipada en persona se llevara a cabo entre semana en 526 E. Commerce, Biblioteca Publica de Jacksonville, entre las 8:00 a. m. y las 5:00 p. m. de lunes a viernes, a partir del 20 de abril de 2026 y hasta el 28 de abril de 2024. El dia de las elecciones sera el 2 de mayo de 2026 de 7 am a 7 pm en 526 E. Commerce, Biblioteca Publica de Jacksonville.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON TAX INCREASE A tax rate of $0.625900 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of the City of Troup. PROPOSED TAX RATE$0.625900 per $100 NO-NEW-REVENUE TAX RATE$0.586886 per $100 VOTER-APPROVAL TAX RATE$0.632453 per $100 The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2024 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the City of Troup from the same properties in both the 2023 tax year and the 2024 tax year. The voter-approval rate is the highest tax rate that the City of Troup may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate. The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that the City of Troup is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2024 tax year. A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WILL BE HELD ON September 16, 2024 AT 6:30 PM AT Cameron-J.Jarvis Troup Municipal Library, 102 South Georgia, Troup,TX 75789. The proposed tax rate is not greater than the voter-approval tax rate. As a result, the City of Troup is not required to hold an election at which voters may accept or reject the proposed tax rate.
